Arctic Arena

– Experience the Unimaginable

Bodø, Norway

Brand Identity
Brand Strategy
Architectural Concept

The Arctic Arena in Bodø, Norway, will stand as a testament to innovative design, seamlessly integrating community, culture, and the awe-inspiring natural beauty of the Arctic Circle. A collaborative effort by ADC, Nordic Office of Architecture, and Arup, this visionary project redefines the intersection of architecture and branding. Guided by ADC’s expertise in brand identity, the arena will reflect the essence of Bodø, infusing its architectural design with profound meaning. The result is a structure that not only embodies the spirit of professional soccer but also celebrates the unique Arctic environment and honors the rich heritage of Bodø.

At the core of the design lies the concept of "Facets," a powerful metaphor for diverse elements coming together to create something stronger and more unified — much like the many facets of a diamond or the collective spirit that defines football. This idea also reflects the resilience and unity embedded in Bodø’s dynamic community and rich cultural landscape.
The interplay of light and darkness, the midnight sun, and the challenging climate are integral to both the architectural vision and the strategic brand identity. These natural phenomena, paired with the unique geographical location, shape an aesthetic that is as bold as it is meaningful. Once completed, The Arctic Arena will seamlessly weave together Bodø’s coastal heritage, natural surroundings, and passion for soccer, all within a singular architectural statement.

Situated at 67° north, this stadium will stand as one of Europe’s northernmost football venues — a landmark that not only celebrates the region’s identity but also amplifies Bodø’s presence on the global stage. Confident and innovative, The Arctic Arena communicates a story of connections, success, and community through every design detail, fostering a sense of pride and belonging for all who will experience it.

The color palette draws inspiration from northern Norway’s natural splendor, reflecting the vivid gradients of sunsets over Bodø and the refracted light near the island of Landegode. Warm oranges, soft golds, and deep blacks evoke the dynamic yet tranquil essence of the region, creating a strong visual connection between the arena and its environment.

Equally strong is the bespoke wordmark for the Arctic Arena. The wordmark, inspired by the geometry in the architectural expression, balances elegance and aspiration with simplicity and straightforwardness. The standout strict geometrical "A" symbol — a play on platonic solids — incorporates key design elements such as the arena’s facade, the interplay of light and shadow (contrast), and the shape of a soccer field — all crafted as a dynamic, ever-changing shape. This bold, simplified design provides a strong visual signature for the project.

ADC is proud to have partnered with Nordic Office of Architecture, Consto, LNS AS, Arup, and Norconsult to turn this vision into reality. Together, we’ve crafted a space that inspires, connects, and celebrates all that makes Bodø and the team FC Bodø/Glimt truly extraordinary.
