Monmouth Square in Eatontown, New Jersey, is a stunning example of how design can transform a space into a vibrant, community-focused destination. A collaboration between ADC and Kushner Companies, this project reimagines the former Monmouth Mall into a modern, open-air town center that seamlessly integrates retail, dining, residential, and public spaces. At the heart of this transformation is a meticulously crafted brand identity that reflects the project’s vision of connection, creativity, and modern living.
The centerpiece of the brand identity is a geometric symbol that serves as both a logo and a repeating brand pattern. This symbol is ingeniously constructed from the letters of "MONMOUTH SQUARE," arranged in strict geometric forms. Beyond its typographic roots, the design draws inspiration from old-style garden ornaments and wrought-iron fences, evoking a sense of timeless elegance. Its aesthetic pays homage to the Vienna Secession movement of the early 1900s, where arts and crafts flourished as a central part of society. Influenced by the design legacy of the Wiener Werkstätte, the symbol embodies the sophistication and creativity of that era, reinterpreted for a modern context.

The brand’s color palette, inspired by its proximity to the Jersey Shore, features four primary tones: Creme, Graphite, Sand, and Caramel. These colors were thoughtfully chosen to reflect an elevated and sophisticated style while capturing the natural beauty and coastal charm of Monmouth Square. Creme provides a light, airy foundation, reminiscent of ocean breezes, while Graphite introduces depth and sleek elegance, evoking the look of wet stones along the shore. Sand offers a soft, natural warmth, reflecting the gentle hues of the beach, and Caramel adds a rich, earthy accent, inspired by sunlit dunes. Together, these tones create a harmonious, serene, and refined aesthetic that perfectly aligns with the modern, upscale character of Monmouth Square and is seamlessly integrated across all brand touchpoints.

ADC’s design expertise extended to the creation of a visually compelling leasing sales folder, which integrates the refreshed brand identity with dynamic layouts, bold typography, and high-quality imagery. The folder highlights key attractions like Whole Foods Market, Apple Store, Zara, expansive green spaces, and luxury residences, while the signature geometric patterns add a modern and cohesive flair. Lifestyle photography, showcasing moments of community, modern interiors, and local highlights, brings the Monmouth Square experience to life, appealing to both prospective tenants and residents.
In addition to the visual identity and sales materials, ADC designed a comprehensive website for Monmouth Square. The site serves as a digital extension of the brand, featuring detailed listings of restaurants, bars, and retail spaces. With a user-friendly interface and visually engaging design, the website provides visitors with an immersive experience that highlights the destination’s offerings and reinforces its modern, community-driven identity.

Monmouth Square’s revamped brand is more than a visual update—it is a proof of successful placemaking. By blending historical inspiration with modern aesthetics, ADC has successfully repositioned the destination as a super-premium hub. This elevated identity resonates with the affluent residents of the New Jersey coastline and capitalizes on the project's proximity to New York City. Ultimately, Monmouth Square stands as a testament to the transformative power of design, redefining what it means to live, work, and gather in one of the region's most prestigious locations.
